Q&A:

How long are the classes?

This class is uniquely designed for those with a busy schedule. One-on-one classes will meet on 4 separate occasions for 90 minutes. Group classes will meet for 2 consecutive days for 3 hours.

When should I take a childbirth class?

While it is completely up to you, I recommend sometime around 25-30 weeks so you have time to practice the tools you learn in the class.

Can my doula or other support people attend?

Absolutely! Doulas and support people can join us free of charge.

How is this class different from a hospital childbirth class?

Hospital childbirth classes will likely be tailored to the structure of the hospital you are with and cover the basic mechanics of labor and delivery as well as your pain management options. This class will cover additional aspects of labor and delivery such as pelvic floor health, breathwork, embodiment, partner support, other comfort measures and can be customized to your unique family- for example, exploring the needs and nuance of surrogacy and adoption. Classes can speak directly to the experience you are having.

Is this a class for homebirths or hospital births?

Neither and both! This is a class to prepare you for the birth environment and experience you are planning. You will be fully prepare and equipped to give birth in any environment.

What if my birth plan changes or something unexpected happens?

Although each class is designed to prepare your for your desired birth plan, in each class we will also cover the “what-if’s” so you are prepared for any possible outcome. You will be empowered to gracefully move in any direction that your birth takes, knowing your options, how to ask the right questions and knowing that you are in charge of your body every step of the way.
